49ers beat the Saints in Week 12 if they run the ball wellVance McDonald #89 of the San Francisco 49ers (Photo by Michael Zagaris/San Francisco 49ers/Getty Images) Matchup New Orleans Saints 4-7 San Francisco 49ers 6-4 Sunday, Nov. 27 4:25 p. m. ET The 49ers have a pretty clear-cut advantage over the Saints in Week 12, and running the ball should all but give Kyle Shanahan another victory.
Right before that, the Saints had lost back-to-back ugly games to the Steelers and Ravens. Given that each of those defeats came by double digits, I don’t have many qualms about laying this many points with the 49ers. San Francisco clearly has the offensive upside to cover a number this large, averaging more than 30 points per contest during this current winning streak. New Orleans has played 3 road games since Week 1 and those were against the Panthers, Cardinals and Steelers. The Saints lost all 3 of those games, with each defeat coming by at least 8 points. Be sure to check out our full Saints vs 49ers predictions Saints vs 49ers Over/Under totals pick: Under 43. 5 (-110) I don’t see the Saints scoring much at all, so I’m going with the under. The 49ers were still managing to play pretty well on defense even with an unbelievable amount of injuries, and now that they’re a bit healthier they’re dominating.
It’s time to break out another football cliche. Generally speaking, teams that run the football well on game day typically wind up being in a great position to win games, even in today’s pass-happy NFL. Another cliche, when the San Francisco 49ers are effective at running the ball, they generally win games, too, even when opponents offer up some resistance to the ground attack as the Niners faced in their previous two wins over the Los Angeles Chargers and Arizona Cardinals in Weeks 10 and 11, respectively. The Chargers are bad at defending against the run, whereas the Cardinals are good at it.

Saints: Betting odds, prediction for Week 12 gameMcCaffrey might have another 100-yard game, both on the ground and through the air, as he did in Week 11 against Arizona. But Mitchell, using his speed and potentially staying in reserve until the second half, might have the better statistical numbers on the ground. Especially if he’s the one called upon to take advantage of the Saints defense after halftime at a point when it’s been worn down by a run-heavy attack. If that plays out, one should probably expect San Francisco to command the game on the ground and to pull off yet another victory when these two teams square off on Sunday, Nov. 27 at 4:25 p.

1 units! ) NFL New Orleans Saints vs San Francisco 49ers expert predictions Since acquiring Christian McCaffrey, the 49ers are 3-1 and have looked incredibly impressive. Their only loss in that span came to the Chiefs, while the Saints have been struggling to put their offense together. New Orleans has been unpredictable in the last few weeks as they were competitive with the Ravens, shutout the Raiders, and then lost by 10 to the Steelers. San Francisco has been much more reliable, and that should shine through on Sunday.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan figured out ways to be effective with the rushing attack in both games. Now, with San Francisco’s Week 12 opponent in the New Orleans Saints, Shanahan will be looking at a defense that emulates Los Angeles’ situation in that the Saints aren’t particularly great when it comes to run defense. Saints don’t have a good run defense, that helps 49ersLooking at the yearlong numbers, or even the splits in recent weeks, New Orleans has struggled against the run.
Saints vs 49ers point spread pick: 49ers -9 (-110) The San Francisco 49ers are picking up steam, and they’re starting to be talked about as a Super Bowl contender. They’ve won 3 in a row, most recently demolishing the Cardinals 38-10 on Monday Night Football. The defense is getting healthier, and the trade for Christian McCaffrey has given them arguably the best group of offensive weapons in the league. On the flip side, the Saints are still without a lot of their top options on offense. Andy Dalton has done a decent enough job given the circumstances, but he’s getting thrown to the wolves on the road against one of the best defenses in the NFL. New Orleans managed to get a much-needed win last week, but I’m not giving it much credit for beating a Rams team that was playing Bryce Perkins at quarterback for much of the day.
Juicy opportunity, right? 49ers RBs Christian McCaffrey, Elijah Mitchell should thrive vs. SaintsShanahan finally has the one-two punch he’s been looking for seemingly for years, boasting a now-healthy Elijah Mitchell in support of the All-Pro, Christian McCaffrey, who’ll be the featured threat. What’ll likely be New Orleans’ approach is to stack the box against the 49ers, not unlike how the Chargers did so two weeks ago. However, getting McCaffrey out into space with both outside runs and the occasional screen play can shake that up. Provided the Niners get into more preferable second- and third-down situations, stacking the box won’t quite be as effective. Read More: 49ers vs.
